Timmy McDonnell, 21, was a junior at Rutgers University, was crossing Easton Avenue in New Brunswick last October, when he was struck by a drunk driver. Timmy suffered a severe, life-threatening head injury that left him with a brain bleed and in a coma.
Following his arrival to the Level I Trauma Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, surgeons worked quickly to remove the clot in Timmy’s brain and kept an eye on the swelling, performing yet another procedure when the pressure to his brain increased again. After 25 days, Timmy left RWJ and embarked on a rigorous inpatient rehabilitation program.
Thanks to the teamwork and expertise of the RWJ doctors, Timmy’s willingness to get better and the unwavering support of friends and family, Timmy is now walking, talking and making plans for the next chapter in his life.
Join Timmy and his family as they salute the first responders that came to Timmy’s aid and are reunited with his entire healthcare team at this family-friendly event for all!
